I guess what I'm trying to say is that telling 2010 to kiss your A** on your facebook status is not going to make 2011 any better. What makes a year good or bad is US. Our actions, reactions, choices, and consequences impact the year in which we live or die. It's not the calendar's fault. My dad used to always tell me, "Don't sweat the small stuff!" I would in turn brush off these words not relishing what they meant then and what they will mean for me now.
Let me leave you all with this thought:
God grant me the serenity
to accept the things I cannot change;
courage to change the things I can;
and wisdom to know the difference.
Living one day at a time;
Enjoying one moment at a time;
Accepting hardships as the pathway to peace;
Taking, as He did, this sinful world
as it is, not as I would have it;
Trusting that He will make all things right
if I surrender to His Will;
That I may be reasonably happy in this life
and supremely happy with Him
Forever in the next.
The first verse of this prayer is as important as the rest of it. Regardless of your religion or background, everyone need to be able to accept things they cannot change.
